“What Makes You Happy”

Do you know what really makes you happy? That’s a serious question to ponder because knowing the answer will allow you to set a better path for you to achieve happiness in life and in your negotiations.

Some people think, “if I had ‘X’, then I’d be happy.” Once they achieve/receive ‘X’, they discover they’re still not happy. In essence, happiness has alluded them. That translates into loss time, loss opportunity, and a loss of peace of mind.

Everyone goes through life searching for their bliss. Sadly, very few ever discover it because they never take the time to observe when they’re happiest in life. Identifying such occurrences is the first step to gaining insight into how to reach your state of bliss. Once you identify it, note what occurred to create it. Pay very close attention to this because it will be the gateway through which you’ll be able to put yourself into a more positive state of mind when you’re feeling down, depressed or just downtrodden.

Happiness is a state of mind. Once you’re able to identify the process to achieve your happiness, you’ll be able to identify how to reach the blissfulness that’s called happiness for you … and everything will be right with the world.

What does this have to do with negotiations?

In any negotiation, your abilities in part are determined by your state of mind. If you’re sad, you’ll view your perspective(s) with a tinge of sadness; it may be barely perceptible, but it will influence the way you act, think, and interact in the negotiation. Viewing circumstances through the lens of happiness will have the opposite effect of sadness.

Possessing a more positive state of mind, one infused with happiness, will allow you to think with a less encumbered mind. The freedom of such will allow you to sense greater opportunities. That’s the value that happiness adds to your negotiation and the role it plays in your life. So, if you seek more success in life, let happiness lead the way.
