Where you are is not where you’ll be, but where you’ve been impacts where you’re going.

As we go through life we grow in life; some do so faster than others. To the degree you want to go further, put a plan in place to do so. The plan doesn’t have to be so extensive that it details every little step you’ll make on your life’s journey, but you do need to make plans for where you wish to be tomorrow. In so doing you’ll have something to move towards. As you know, that which you focus on becomes your reality. Thus, to improve your life, focus on transcending your life to a better place, no matter what that better place means to you. Transcendency fueled by plans, determination, and a desire to achieve more in life will catapult you to the higher life you seek … and everything will be right with the world.

 

What does this have to do with negotiations?

 

In a negotiation, you’re always seeking to improve your position. If that was not the case, you wouldn’t be negotiating. Thus, you seek to transcend into a better environment to spring higher going forward. Also, in a negotiation you have to have your body and mind involved with your negotiation efforts, which means you have to have the correct mental perspective about what you’re doing, how you’ll respond to the outcome of the negotiation, and what you’ll do in the future to improve your plight in life. To ignore any of those pieces, mind, body, and sense of purpose is to negotiate almost with half a mind. If that were the case … everything would not be right with the world.

 

Remember, you’re always negotiating!
