“Were You Aware You Did That? – Subliminal Messaging”

Are you aware of how frequently you’re moved to act or not act by subliminal messages and thoughts? Since our brain is bombarded by millions of nuances of information on a daily basis, our brain only promotes to our conscious mind what it perceives to be important to us. Thus, that which is not perceived to need a higher degree of attention is left in our subconscious mind.

I suggest you become more aware of subliminal messaging so you can understand how and why you’re motivated to do certain things. By being aware of what’s motivating you, you’ll gain greater insight as to why you do what you do, and when you do it. With such insight, you’ll also have a greater understanding of the effects that subliminal suggestions have on you per the actions you engage in.

The next time you question yourself about why you committed a particular action, reflect on the activities that might have led to it. As you become more aware of such insights, you’ll become more aware of your environment, which means you’ll be in greater control of what you choose to engage in … and everything will be right with the world.

What does this have to do with negotiations?

We act and react to subliminal messages in a negotiation constantly. As a result, to the degree we sense the other negotiator’s body language gestures, we assign a like or dislike factor to her. We also do so in part due to the subliminal messages we perceive stemming from those gestures.

If you understand why you may possess an affinity for the other negotiator, you can be somewhat on guard to not falling prey to that which doesn’t serve you. In order to do that, you’ll have to exercise a high degree of awareness and astuteness when it comes to subliminal messages and body language.

Being aware of what stimulates you is very important in the overall wellbeing of your life. In a negotiation, it can be a lifesaver. Once you raise your level of awareness in a negotiation, you’ll raise the level of your opportunities … and everything will be right with the world.

Remember, you’re always negotiating!
